How We Review
Our approach
Homeartideas helps renters decorate without losing their security deposit. Every roundup starts with one question: can a renter use this product and remove it cleanly? We build our picks from published manufacturer specifications, safety certifications, official instructions, and recurring themes in public customer feedback. We do not run laboratory measurements, and we do not claim to have physically used every product we cover.
The Homeartideas Score
Each product we recommend receives a Homeartideas Score from 0 to 10. The score is a weighted average of seven criteria. Every product in a roundup is scored on the same criteria, in the same review pass.

| Ease of Installation | 15% | Number of steps, extra tools required, and clarity of instructions |
| Safety & Compliance | 10% | Verifiable certifications such as UL or ETL for electrical items, load safety margins, and manufacturer warnings |
| Design & Finish | 10% | Materials, finish quality, and range of sizes or colors |
| Value | 10% | How the product compares with the others in the same roundup on features for the price |
| Owner Feedback | 10% | Recurring themes in public customer reviews, such as adhesive failure or early wear |
When information is missing
If we cannot find reliable information for a criterion, we do not guess. We score the product on the remaining criteria and say which one was left out. If too much information is missing, or if we cannot confirm basic safety data, the product is not included in the roundup.
Safety limits on the score
A product with weak or unverifiable safety information cannot rank among our top picks, however well it scores elsewhere. Electrical products without a recognized certification receive a low safety score. Where a product’s removal instructions are missing or warn of likely surface damage, its Renter-Friendliness score is capped.
How we rank
Products are ranked by their Homeartideas Score. If two products tie, the one with the higher Renter-Friendliness score ranks first, then the one with the higher Safety score.
Keeping reviews current
We update an article when a product is redesigned or when its specifications or certifications change. Each article shows when it was published and last updated. We do not list prices in article text because they change often.
